Daylesford Events Space
Daylesford is well established as a go-to destination, particularly for those visiting The Cotswolds. Once a farm with an adjoining farm shop, the brand, created by Carole Bamford, established a name for itself by selling fabulous organic produce from the estate. In the years since its first foray, Daylesford has expanded exponentially to now include pubs, self-catering accommodation, a spa, and the most recent addition - an exclusive wellness club. With a reputation for outstanding, locally grown food and an effortless Cotswolds chic style it is no wonder that it has caught the attention of many a bride to be on the hunt for a wedding venue.
Daylesford Events Facilities
On the Cotswolds estate, near Kingham, there are already facilities in place to accommodate parties of various sizes. The intimate Garden Room, for example, can seat 12 adults and overlooks the stunning 20-acre market garden. Larger parties have the choice of the glass house which connects to the renowned farm shop. It has floor to ceiling windows and seats up to 60 people. If a larger venue space is required, the glass house can be opened up onto the café to hold up to 140 people in total. There is also the option of marquees or bell tents on the land, providing the weather holds out. However, Daylesford’s next venture will see the creation of a dedicated events space perfect for even the largest of events, no matter the weather.
New Cotswolds Event Space
The events space is set to be a stunning venue with a 240sq meter contemporary, minimalistic main hall with large expanses of glass, including a large central ridgelight. The hall will be able to accommodate up to 216 guests. A barn is located at the far end of the building and is of traditional construction with chunky oak trusses and an expansive feel with a clear 7.5 metre floor to ceiling height. The barn is intended to be used for ceremonies and workshops, amongst all manner of events. Between the barn and the hall will be a stunning greenhouse with access to the gardens, barn, and main hall. There will be further access to the outdoors from the glazed hall which leads onto a 135sq meter terrace. The indoor space will also include a large kitchen, lobby, cloakroom, and extensive guest facilities to cater for almost any event.
SOLID’s Engineering Approach
SOLID are appointed as Structural Engineers on the project which is now making excellent progress on site. As with most projects, there have been challenges throughout the design process. To maintain the desired minimalistic appearance within the glazed hall, whilst supporting the large expanses of glass and Cotswold stone, the SOLID team have designed the structure to allow for the columns to be hidden within the walls, maintaining the desired clear span, open structure. The many different levels in the landscape have presented an economical engineering challenge in the optimisation of the various retaining wall types employed to maintain the desired levels across the building. One of the main challenges was to allow for a JCB Fastrak inside the building! The ground floor makeup has been carefully crafted with this in mind, permitting sufficient load spread from the 11-tonne vehicle!
Many thanks to Alex for capturing these photos on his recent site visit. They really showcase how much progress has been made. We look forward to updating you again soon and sharing further images as the project completes.
