Engineering Milestone in Cringleford

Our civil engineering team in Bourne End, Buckinghamshire, has celebrated a major milestone on the Cringleford Development in Norwich under Krasimir Krastev’s leadership, gaining Section 104 and Section 38 approval. The development will see 210 new homes constructed on a Greenfield site. This site presented an array of design challenges, including poor CBR results due to sandy clay present in the soil. A geotechnical report and further CBR tests were conducted before an assessment and proposal could be submitted and accepted by the County Council.

Drainage Design Solutions

The Section 104 approval agreement was delivered in accordance with ‘Sewer for Adoption’ and other specific Anglian Water necessities. The team proposed a detention basin, designed to the SuDS manual requirements, with a forebay, a low-flow swale and a biodiversity micro-pool. Our designed parcel drainage system and the structure of a deep foul-water pump station chamber allows surface water run-off to be infiltrated, attenuated, and treated at the source within the pond, detention basin, and porous car park sub-bases. By deviating from a traditional pipe system, which discharges directly into a sewer, we create sustainable drainage that will provide enormous environmental benefits.

The Section 38 approval was delivered in accordance with the Norfolk County Council requirements.
