A regional drainage scheme
The Blanchardstown project aims to upgrade the wastewater network serving Blanchardstown, Mulhaddart, Castleknock and several smaller towns just outside Dublin.
Once completed, the wastewater capacity of the existing network will be increased. This will reduce the risk of waste water flooding the immediate surroundings and control the volume of untreated wastewater into the River Tolka.
HAC (now part of SOLID) have worked with Ward & Burke on the foul balancing tank. This tank has an outer shaft of 30m diameter and an inner shaft of 8m diameter. A pumping station is location at the bottom of the inner shaft.
The system is capable of handling 30,000 m3 storm water.
